Welcome to flskyrider.com and The Waiex Journey. This site IS NOT intended to be a technical manual. This site will only
document my  building process  and registration  of my kit built sport plane. Technical questions should be directed to Sonex
Aircraft LLC.
This is the construction chronicle of my Waiex, pronounced YX it is a two place, all metal aircraft designed and supplied in kit
form by Sonex Ltd..
My name is Mike January and the Waiex that I have built is serial number 23 and is  a tri-cycle configuration powered by the
AeroVee 2180, 80 HP, VW conversion, supplied by Aero Conversions.
There are three Sonex projects nearby, one, Sonex #71  is complete, and was Built and is flown  by Bob Adams. The two
remaining, Sonex #82 Chuck Dorff  and Sonex  #335 Steve Betts, are currently under construction. It is great to have them close.
All aircraft are within 30minutes of my home.
Although a Sonex plans holder, final decision to build a Sonex LLC. designed  aircraft was not made until after  attending the Sonex
Workshop in Oshkosh  during the first week of October, 2004. During my time with the Sonex Team , all of the staff made me feel
at home and always provided me with truthful and timely answers to all my questions. The workshop was well organized, full of
vital information, hands on training and even a visit from an insurance Representative to answer all our questions. The workshop
is a must for all Sonex Builders.
After meeting the Sonex Team  there was no doubt as to the aircraft I wanted to build.. The Sonex Team is a dedicated group of
family,  professionals and volunteers, who's expertise in, and love of aviation is evident in every aspect of their business and
product.

The journey continues.
