Wing Construction
After almost one month of other things, Bassmasters tourney in North
Carolina, Sun-n-Fun in Lakeland Florida, I am back at the wing
construction..
As always the detail parts are first. At the left is the Aileron Bell Crank
assembly on rib #9 left. As always all the detail parts were also made
for the right wing at the same time..
At far left is a view of the rib stiffners and spacers. At right the process of
placing ribs and checking alignment continues
Now that all the ribs are clecoed into position its time
to level and lock down the spar for final debur,
corrosion proofing , electrical wiring for wing tip
lights and to rivet all the ribs to the spar. After the
final alignment, cross checks and level checks it will
be time to start on the root ribs.
The final level check is made after the wing is spar assembly is locked to the table. It checks
out 0.0. Now how did that happen? The spar is clamped thru the table center to insure it
remains stable through the next few steps.
As pictured above the left wing root ribs are completed. Now its on the the wing skinning process. Just
